Still Learning

There is a sad fact in life. And it's this:

Puppies are dicks.

Oh sure, they're cute and sweet when they're: 1) sleeping, 2) in photographs, 3) sleeping in photographs, 4) preoccupied with wispy fall leaves, 5) chewing on anything OTHER than poisonous berries, the neck of your elder dog, carpet fibers, your couch, favorite blanket, pillow fluff, printer cord, toes, elbows, ARMS, HANDS AND FINGERS!

Oh my fucking GOD, people. I took in a foster puppy for the weekend, thinking I might adopt him if everything went well. After a week of visiting with him when he strolled by with his foster mom during my morning break, I was convinced he was Buddy's perfect match.

First off: I'm an idiot.

Second off: Holy shit. I'm a fucking idiot!

Third: We can't afford a puppy. (But we'll make do!) No. (Uh...c'mon!) NO. (You're no fun!) FINE.

Fourth: What the hell was I thinking?

Fifth: OUCH.

The top joint on the middle finger of my right hand is still sore from when Sampson chomped down on it with his EVIL (straight from HELL sharp as fuck) puppy teeth.

My arms look like I was tossed back and forth by a couple of dykes at a women's prison in Montana.

My brain still isn't rested from staying up till 3 am each night with his whining and fussing.

My body hasn't recovered from getting up every 30 FUCKING SECONDS to take something or another out of his EVIL SHARP MOUTH OF DEATH.

Yet, I miss him curling up on my lap, snuggling next to Buddy at night, and trying to catch up with him during our walks so he could be a big boy too, the way his head tilted in a total "BAROO?" when I whistled, the soft feel of his fur, the way his paws twitched when he fell fast asleep safe and comfortable with us, him learning how to jump on the box to get off and on the bed, the way he watched Buddy's every move so he could be that totally cool, the soft kisses and licks they shared between bites and wrestling...and the way he nibbled on my ears while I giggled.

*Sigh*

The other sad fact in life?

Falling in love and having to let go is a BITCH.
